A distraught Daniel Williams travels from Western Australia to Scotland to identify the body of his estranged son, Ben, the victim of a brutal murder.
But he is dealt an unexpected hand and embarks on a search the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland, battling the demons of his self destructive past and unknowingly dogged by tragedy at every turn.
Daniel’s journey leads him to Vincent Carlisle, Edinburgh’s most powerful drug lord, and the appalling realisation that his son had been connected to a major drug trafficking empire.
Detective Inspector Michael Cowen, Lothian and Borders Police, are desperate to keep the two men apart, but underestimate Daniel’s determination.
All three are drawn into a violent confrontation that will see lives destroyed and lives renewed.
Daniel’s search for redemption becomes a life and death race to protect those he loves. An ordinary man confronted by extraordinary violence…
How far will he go to survive?
This is a thought provoking story that portrays the human condition through the lens of many different times and places. While the reader may not identify with the extreme actions of the main character, the suffering involved with being human is easy to relate to.
The dramatic details of the plot and descriptive scenes make the book difficult to put down, and might well lend itself to a screenplay.
