Many authors have given several reasons why Igbo people welcomed Christianity with open arms into Igboland. As an agent of evangelization, I have re? ected on these reasons and discovered that there is little or no emphasis on the contribution of the deeply religious culture of Igbo people to the growth of Christianity. This book Missionary Evangelization and Cultural Values: Re-Examining the Growth and future Challenges of Catholic Christianity in Igboland argues that missionary evangelization could never have been so successful without the contribution of the seven cultural values of Igbo people. This book examined these seven cultural values in the context of the evangelization work of the European missionaries. It recognizes that although some Igbo cultural values are at odds with the gospel, everal othercultural values are responsible for the continual growth of Christianity in Igboland. Thus, it suggests that there is need to constantly re-examine these cultural values in order to promote those that contribute to the growth of Christianity, and to discard those cultural values which are contrary to the work of Catholic evangelization.
