My name is Dr Alena Rada, PhD and I live in Canberra, in Australia.
Professionally speaking I am a linguist with a PhD in linguistics and semiotics, an anthropologist with a PhD candidature in anthropology and a criminologist with a master’s degree in criminology. At present I am concentrating on writing books that reflect my academic training and which are multidisciplinary rather than concentrating only on one area of my training.
A number of years ago I have finished a book that is now entitled “Imposed Morality”. My aim was to discuss the unfair treatment of homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual people but I was not able to find a publisher with a vision that my book required.
My problem was – obviously – to look for publishers in USA and UN and somehow it did not occur to me to look for one in Australia.
It was not just a coincidence but a real luck that I have contacted William Webster from the Australian Self-Publishing group in Canberra. From the very moment we met – I was with my son who was well aware of my stress not being able to publish my book – I was impressed with his knowledge in a number of fields and with his interest in what my aim was. After our experience with two other publishers, we did not trust anybody, but William’s attitude convinced us that he was the right one.
The book has just been published and it is more than what I was hoping for.
From its cover to the last page the book exceeded my expectations, and I would like to encourage all the Australian writers who are hoping to publish to stop looking anywhere else but to William’s company.
While my experience with other potential publishers was rather unsatisfactory mainly because of their attitude and lack of knowledge – very few had any academic training and believed that this profession does not need it. Even William’s editing was 100% – something I did not find with any other publisher and as I said above – we have tried a few.
William is different and I am already working on three other books I hope he will be able to accommodate in his publishing program.
Thank you, William!
